Baby, it's cold outside!

I wanted to share with you some pics of the weather here in Cincinnati. Alex has had two snow days in a row. He is pretty happy and I am pretty happy that I am forced to stay at home and get some organizing around the house done. Feels so good to be productive!

Wherever you are, I hope it is warm! I'm off to see if the guys want to go sled riding.
Be back soon....

Some more Hero love...

As you might already know, I love Hero Arts. I really enjoy working with their stamps and wanted to share a page I created using some Hero Stamps from my day o' scrapping with Jennie this past Saturday....

On this LO, I created butterflies using hearts! Thanks to Jennie, I was able to create a girly page. (You have made me want a little girl Jennie!) She let me borrow this pic of her daughter Audrey. Isn't she a doll?

Alright, I need to go and clean now. I have a meeting with a customer who wants me to create two scrapbooks for her! Thanks for stopping by. Be back soon...

Hibernating....

It is so cold here in Ohio that I feel like hibernating! So that is exactly what I am going to do today, hibernate in my scrapbook studio and get everything labeled and finished up. I can finally see that light at the end of the tunnel with my room and I will have lots of pics and a video soon to show you. The one thing that is still bugging me is that i haven't found the perfect light. The room only has one light in the ceiling fan and I want to make it brighter. If you have a link to any online place that you love, please share!

And because I have a hard time posting without a pic, here is a card I did for the Hero Arts pocket challenge last week:

I was inspired by Natasha Bedingfield's song, "Pocket Full of Sunshine". That is what we need here..SUNSHINE!

I'm off to organize...be back soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Fool...

Lately, I have been a creative fool! lol I have gotten a lot of projects completed. Here is a peek at some of them...

First, I had to participate in Kristina's color challenge! Just look at these colors, aren't they gorgeous?
Here is my card:

I added some Stickles to the butterflies to make them pop. I like the burst of color against the white.

Here is another card I created for the Hero Arts challenge this week. The challenge was to use a pocket. I created a pocket by making a mini, paper airplane to hold my heart.....It is hard to see, but those red gems are actually heart shaped....I wanted the illusion of hearts spilling out from the plane. :) It was a fun card to make.

Also, here are the LO's that I worked on during my getaway weekend:

First, I had to make a LO about Alex's obsession with texting. My journaling said that back in the day when I was his age, the cool thing to have was a beeper! LOL

I love the bright colors of the text sayings from Elle's Studio.

Next is a LO about Alex's Freshman Award Night and how he makes me so proud with not only his grades but his overall choices...

Finally, my favorite LO. This one showcases Alex's growth over the last four years. I can not believe how fast time has flown by. Where did those chubby cheeks go?! I think this is my favorite b/c I used a BUNCH of random shots that I had in a box and used a square punch on them. I love that they have a home now.

Before I sign off, I want to announce the winners of the Classic Girly Movie Contest. THANK YOU so much for all of your sweet comments about my weekend. I am over it but it sure did help to vent. :)

The classic movie we watched was Dirty Dancing! My all-time favorite movie! However, we did watch Pretty in Pink too. So, if you guessed either movie, I am going to send you a prize.

Congrats to....

Ladies, email me with your address so I can send out your prize.

I'll be back soon...

Venting....but a giveaway at the end!

Well, I am back and finally feel settled in from my trip. It went pretty good until Friday evening. My sister and I went and were by ourselves for the majority of the trip and that was great. We watched girly movies while we did some scrappin'. It was so relaxing. And then the ladies that had booked the house for the remainder of the weekend came on Fri. night and I have to say this, I wasn't too happy. I am really not one to complain but the more I think about it, the more mad I get and I think venting to the blog world might help.

Anyway, I am all for making new friends and meeting people but these ladies seemed to have something against us from the start. The first lady came in and didn't have her bag down before she started complimenting me, I mean insulting me....I don't know, still trying to figure her out. Her first words out of her mouth were, "Wow, you're pages are (long pause here) really (another long pause) fancy." Her tone wasn't good at all and I thought, well, nice to meet you too. lol

As she man handled my LO's she said,"Is that your son?" in kinda a snotty tone. Oh, no you didn't! I get REALLY protective of my family but I took a deep breath and said, yes, that is my step-son, Alex. She responded with a LONG Oooohhhh and then proceeded to tell me that someone as young as me couldn't possibly have a teenager. At this point I'm thinking I want to comment on how old she looks but that wouldn't be very nice...my momma taught me better so I explained that my husband Ted is 10 years older than me and Alex was 10 when we got married. At this point my sister knew I was upset and jumped in with a few comments to get her off my back but I thought wow, you are really rude. To make a long story short, the other two ladies weren't much better and kept saying that my pages were too involved and they went for the more simple approach. Sigh. I don't care! I didn't ask for your opinion.

That night turned into a long evening but later, the same lady that gave me grief for having a teenager says her husband is 8 years older than her and she waited to have kids and has a 4 and 5 year old. HUH? So, it's okay that you are (okay, I'll be nice here) A LOT older to have kids that young but I can't possibly have a teenage son??? What??

I am getting mad just typing this so I will wrap it up but my point is, WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? I am always amazed at what comes out of people's mouth. As I said before, my mom raised us to have respect and kindness for others and if you have nothing good to say, then shut up! Okay, I'm off my soap box.

To reward you for reading my venting, I am going to give away a mystery prize. Leave a comment with your guess on one of the girly movies that my sister and I watched. The ONLY clue is that it is a CLASSIC! I will reveal the winner on Thursday.

Off to watch the Bachelor but before I go, a pic of ONE of the mini projects from my trip. I made the cover to a clear checkbook with some of my favorite pics of us...

I used pink b/c I NEVER get to use pink and it is my checkbook. Do you think it is to involved? hee hee. Be back on Thursday. Thanks for reading and letting me vent. I feel better already.

Scraplifing and some shares...

Hi everyone. Sorry that I am not posting much...just kinda blah. Must be the winter blues! But I did want to share a couple of things. First, here are the two layouts I made when I went scrappin' on Sunday...

The first is a scrap lift from the January issue of Scrapbooks Etc. ...I love this magazine! I have to say that I usually don't scraplift because for some reason I have a hard time with it! (You would think it would be easier for me to scraplift. I am weird like that! LOL) However, I saw Sarah Klemish's 2008 in review LO (on page 38) and I knew it would be perfect to scrapbook the holiday pics. Here is my take on her layout... (sorry for the bad pic)Laura had the same idea. Check out her take on Sarah's LO HERE.

And one of my own creations. I LOVE using "girly" stuff but never get to with a teenage son so I got to for his homecoming pics....
A detailed shot since it seems I can't take a good pic. lol .....
and finally, I made a card for the Hero Arts challenge. This week is about layering so I layered lots of my HA flowers and buttons. I love the way it turned out. Many people have commented on me using so many of my flowers and they couldn't part with their stash like that, but this year I feel like I need to stop hoarding my scrap stuff and use it! Here's to my new's year resolution to using my stuff and stop saying it is too pretty to use! lol ....

One more thing...I am hosting a Scrapbook Bakery crop on Saturday, February 22 from 10-5 at McAuley High School. If you are a fellow Cincinnati gal and would like to attend, email me or leave a comment and I will email you all the info. about registering. Hope you can make it!

That's it for now. I will not be back until Sunday. I leave for Cornerstone tomorrow. I can't wait. I will share my projects when I return. Have a great rest of the week!

Stress Free Scrappin'

Hello everyone. Just wanted to share that I went scrapping tonight with my friend Jennie and for the first time in a long time, I didn't feel anxious about getting a certain number of things accomplished. I think when I do that I set myself up for failure. lol Tonight was stress free and I got a lot of stuff done! I wanted to show you the holiday thank you card set I made....

Decided to go with non-traditional Christmas cards to mix it up a bit! I am lovin' the Bo Bunny dot papers. They are yummy.

That's all I got for now. Hope your weekend was great! Be back soon with more some more shares....
