Thinking Inking

Hi everyone! I've been playing in my studio and wanted to share. I remember Jennifer telling me on our scrapbooking trip last month about her upcoming Thinking Inking class. I couldn't wait to check it out and I FINALLY had some time to play and wanted to tackle some of her techniques that she showed during week one of her class. Here is the set I made: Card #1:

For this card, I inked the tag with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and then wicked it with water. I inked the white flowers with red ink and then attached some HA buttons in the center. I tied a bow and added a sentiment to finish the tag and attached it to a HA kraft card after embossing it with the cuttlebug.

Card #2:

For this card, I inked the tag with Broken China Distress Ink and then stamped with VersaMark and water to create a watermark look. I used a white gel pen to give it a little more definition, then I added orange brads and a sentiment. I attached the tag to a HA kraft card after embossing it with the cuttlebug.

Card #3:

For this card, I applied a flower mask then heavily inked the bottom with black ink and worked my way up the tag with less ink to create a lighter look on the top. Then I removed the mask, added a sentiment and a few pearls. I attached the tag to a HA kraft card after embossing it with the cuttlebug.

Card #4:

For this card, I inked the polka dot patterned paper with Purple Distress Ink changing the look completely. Here is the paper before I inked it...Then I tied some purple string around the patterned paper and added a sentiment. Then I inked the tag with yellow ink and then stamped with a HA flourish stamp in purple. Finally, I inked the tag edges with purple and attached it to a HA kraft card after embossing it with the cuttlebug.

Supply List for all cards:
Flower Mask- Heidi Swapp
Stamps, Notecards, Buttons, Flowers, Pearls-Hero Arts
Patterned Paper-Bo Bunny
Brads-Li'l Davis
Ink: Ranger (Tim Holtz-Distress Ink), VersaMark, Memories Ink
Other: Tags and String

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out Jennifer's blog HERE for more info on her Thinking Inking Class. I promise you will have so much fun and your inky fingers will be worth it! lol

Brad Paisley Fan...

Yep. I'm a Brad Paisley Fan. Ted and I went to see him in concert last night here in Cincinnati. (It was a Mother's Day gift from Ted) What a great show! The yummy Dierks Bentley opened for him. He rocked it out too. Such a fun night and a great break from the stressful week I had. THIS song is my favorite from Brad. It reminds me of me and my hubby.

Just popping on to say hi and hope you are having a great weekend. We celebrated my dad's 60th birthday today. It was fun but I am TIRED. I'll be back soon after some much needed rest. Thanks for stopping by!

Almost Forgot...

I'm back. :) Almost forgot to show you what I worked on for Lisa's challenge. She has AWESOME photography challenges on her blog. They are so helpful.

Here is my card before...
and here is my card after learning her tutorial...
I was NEVER happy with the auto levels on Photoshop. Now I know this simple trick that makes SO much difference. Thanks Lisa! I need all the help I can get with photography. lol

I love a good challenge...

I'm really hooked on creating for challenges lately. I think it is because it gives me a jump start and gets my creative juices flowing. I decided to play along with this week's American Crafts Challenge. The challenge was to use an enlarged photo on a LO. I found this sweet one of my niece and really liked the childlike, playful feel it projected and decided to use that as inspiration... It's hard to see in the photo but I did a technique on the clouds. I used an embossing pen to color a few clouds and then I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. It gives it some definition. Here is a closeup of one of the clouds for a better look (P.S. Isn't that googley eyed birdie cute!?)...
You can find a GREAT video on this technique by Kelly Purkey HERE.

The journaling for this LO is a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson:
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

Supply List: EVERYTHING is American Crafts except the bird stamp (hero arts), buttons, and black frame (basic grey)

I'll be back sometime this weekend. I am super busy planning my dad's 60th surprise birthday party which is on Saturday! Thanks for stopping by.

Some Cards and Challenge Winners

Thought I would share some cards I did at my stamping/scrapping retreat a few weeks ago. I started with this card and liked the basic design so much that I used that as a starting point for the last two cards.

Supplies: Patterned Paper from Crate Paper, Stamps from Hero Arts (Wood Background stamp found HERE), Rub-ons from Stampin' Up

Speaking of inspiration...I was BLOWN away with the entries from THIS challenge. The winner of the Scrapbook Bakery box o' goodies is: ROSEMARY D. Check out her entry HERE. Isn't it awesome? I love how she used my three elements as her inspiration.

I also have two more winners....I couldn't pick just one! Congrats to LUCY AND SHANE. Ladies, email me your address so I can send out your goodies.

Would any of you be interested in more challenges in the future?

Another American Crafts Challenge

Back again with another American Crafts Challenge. This week's challenge was to scrap a retro photo. I dug through some of my childhood photos and laughed out loud when I came across some pics from 1990 when I went to my first concert to see New Kids On the Block! :) Here is my LO which was so fun to do...... and a closer look...Journaling: "I’ll admit it. It was 1990 and I was hooked.
I was completely obsessed with The New Kids
On The Block or NKOTB as their true fans call
them. I knew every word to every song and was
truly the happiest ten year old on the planet when
my mom got me and a couple of friends tickets to
see them. It was my first concert and I thought I
was so cool with my NKOTB neon fanny pack
and Jordan McKnight t-shirt (he was my favorite
group member and I truly believed I would marry
him someday). I was sporting my newly permed
hair and jelly bracelets. Yep, I was so cool!"

Supply List: The Cardstock is from DCWV. The remaining supplies are from American Crafts.

I hope I gave you a good laugh. Be back soon...

Up for a challenge?

Hi! Thought I would share a card I made and to throw out a challenge to my blog readers. First, here is the card I created.... The heart stamp is one of my favorites and I think Bo-Bunny paper is a great companion to stamping. I used THIS paper with THIS ink.

So here's the challenge:
Use my card as inspiration and create a card. Now, this can be just color inspiration, sketch inspiration or both. You don't have to use any specific products...whatever you have on hand will work just fine. Just take it and run with it. :)

Snap a pic of your card and post a link in the comments to your creation. You have until this Sunday, June 14th.

I will pick one winner to win a box of goodies from Scrapbook Bakery! So get creating. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I'll admit it....

I've watched THIS too many times to count! Anyone else willing to admit they have too? LOL

Enjoy! Be back soon....

Another Hero Arts Card...

I created this card for the Hero Arts challenge a few weeks ago. I recycled some bubble wrap and inked it with THIS ink, stamped it on white cardstock and added some chocolate chips with a brown colored pencil to create chocolate chip cookies as the background. The owl and the larger cookie came from THIS set. I also used THIS paper and THIS paper.

I have to make this post short tonight because it has been a long day. My Uncle Andy took his own life this morning and my family and I have been trying to deal with the all the grief, confusion, heartache, and sadness. If you feel like saying a prayer for our family, I would appreciate it. I'll be back when things settle down.
