Green Thumb

Hi everyone. No, I am not a gardener but I might be after this month's kit! lol I named this kit Green Thumb because it comes with a clay pot (not pictured, but included). Lots of brand spankin' new products from American Crafts. Yum....
Jennie Holwadel is the guest designer for May. Jennie is a Scrapbook Bakery Design Team member but more importantly a really good friend. I have known Jennie for a long time now and she is so fun to hang out with and is such a good listener and just a genuine, down to earth person. Love ya Jennie! She did an amazing job with the kit materials....take a look....I love how she mod podged strips of paper around the pot and the pencils and doesn't them jelly beans look yummy? Perfect for mother's day! More details.....

I just love these cards....a set of cards would be perfect for a Mother's Day gift. Here are her layout's of her sweet girls, Kayla and Audrey....

I love how she used the envelope on Audrey's baby page...perfect for hiding sentimental journaling or a hospital bracelet. Thanks so much Jennie for continuing to lend your talent to Scrapbook Bakery! Like Jennie's projects? Drop her a comment on her blog. She will be doing a RAK soon sponsored by Scrapbook Bakery! :)

One more thing...thank you so much for the comments and emails on Creative Play with Laura. PLEASE email me or comment with a link if you are going to play along with our challenge. We would LOVE to see your work! Have a great night. Must go watch Hell's Kitchen! Thanks for stopping by!

Wanna Play?

Laura Vegas and I decided to do a little Creative Play recently. We decided to use a pink, red, and green color scheme, a Hero Arts Stamp, and bubble wrap! We went with the theme of having to do a page about ourselves. Laura did a daily routine page and I did a daily necessities page. I have to admit I was a little nervous to do this with Laura b/c she is so stinkin' talented but I knew it would be fun and it was! Here is what Laura did.....just love it....and here is mine....
Some close up shots of details....
The journaling sits on top of two rows of the Heidi Swapp Journaling Spots (Days of the Week).
The journaling reads: Whether it’s a COCA-COLA to wake me up in the morning, a CELL PHONE that let’s me know when Alex needs picked up from school, the INTERNET that allows me to connect with others and run a business, or my I-POD SHUFFLE that allows me to chill out with soothing music during an evening walk…these are the things that have become my daily necessities. Can I live without them? Sure. But, I really don’t want to. :) Painting on the bubble wrap was FUN! When I was done it made for the perfect spot to push brads through the circles and add buttons!
I am so glad that I saw this Creative Play concept on Robyn's Blog. If you haven't tried this before, go try it with a scrapping friend. It's a lot of fun.

I'm Still Here

Hi! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I am still here. I have had a super stressful week and to cap it all off, last night I went to my niece's dance recital. It was great until I went to leave and noticed that my car had been keyed! Now, this is NOT my old car! This is the Grand Cherokee that I mentioned in a previous post that I just purchased on WEDNESDAY! So, it took two days for something to go wrong. Needless to say, I am not happy. I mean who keys a car at a dance recital? lol Anyway, I will be back with some positive, fun stuff tomorrow night or Monday! Hope everyone is doing well and having a better week! :) Thanks for stopping by!

Wow. Is it Sunday already? I can't believe how fast time flies. Our weekend was pretty much consumed with wrapping up Alex's birthday celebrations. Let's see...Tuesday was his celebrations with us. Thursday night was his celebration with my family. Friday was his celebration with Ted's friends and last night he had his friends come over for a party! He is one lucky guy. Here are some pics (just because I can't post w/o pics) of the celebration with my family....
with his friends...The second one cracks me up. They just had to be silly. lol Not much else to report. I'm getting ready to go test drive a car. One of my mom's friends is selling her Jeep Cherokee. Here's to hoping it drives good and checks out with the mechanic. I'll be back with more scrapbook related stuff tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Alex!

Today is my stepson's 15th birthday! Wow, does time fly. Ted and I started dating when Alex was 10 and I can honestly say (and proud to say) that Alex and I have a great relationship. You would be surprised how many people say, "I'm so sorry you have a stepchild" and then when they find out that he is a teenager...oh boy, you should see the looks! I know that there is a lot of stereotyping out there when it comes to step children but I have had NO problems that I hear about. Maybe it's because he lives with us full time, maybe it's because he feels he can talk to me, or maybe it is because he is an amazing kid! :) Caution: some bragging is about to happen. lol

Alex is a first honors student, plays sports, has a strong faith for God, so stinkin' talented in general, but especially in the art and music department. He blows me away. (I'm getting teary-eyed just typing this.) He is enriched my life in so many ways and I know that I am supposed to be his guidance/teacher but he is the one who teaches me every single day. The lessons he has taught me....Well, I will take them with me for the rest of my life. So, Alex (I know you read this from time to time) Thank you for being anything but typical. Thank you for being such a wonderful young man. I love you with all my heart. I am a better person because of you. (As your birthday card said) YOU ROCK. :)

So, today I wanted to make his day extra special. So, Ted and I woke him up by singing Happy Birthday to him and serving him breakfast. After breakfast, we decided to let him do his scavenger hunt to find his present. There were 15 clues and it was so fun to see him running around everywhere to finally find a new electric guitar. I followed him around like paparazzi. Here are a few pics of the birthday boy....

Okay, off to bed. I will be back soon with lots of things to share. Thanks for stopping by! One more thing...there is a coupon code here for 30% off at the Bakery to celebrate the Inspired Event. Enjoy!

Random Happiness

Hi everyone. First things first, to all of the INSPIRED ladies:
I DO have extra refill kits for the Creative Block Survival Guide class and extra class kits. I will post more about this later this week but if you have any questions.....just email me at hruwe(at)scrapbookbakery.com

Just wanted to pop in to let you know what I have been up to today. A simple joy that I thought I would share. I know I said I liked my buttons thrown together in my Pottery Barn ice cooler with scoop but I have been spending way too much time finding the right color for class kits and projects. So, today I sorted and even though I have a long way to go...I LOVE it. The colors just make me so happy! Wouldn't you agree?
I am loving the clear containers because it makes me want to use what I have. Everything that is in my studio that I can't see will be put in clear containers soon. :)

Another thing that made me happy today. This arrived in the mail....I'm off to read it! Thanks for stopping by! What's your random happiness?

I'm Back.

WOW. That is about all I can say about the Inspired Event. Donna did an AMAZING job! It was her first event and I was honored to not only come and sell my pink boxes but also teach two mini-workshops. Here are some pics from the event:

Here is the ScrapbookBakery Boothe inside the market fair:
Here are a few art projects I created before I left for the boothe:

I met some AMAZING people.....

The sweet Ali Edwards. So glad I got a chance to chat with her.
And the only lady that could EVER get me to sew...Ms. Heather Bailey!

She was doing a make and take at the on-site quilt store and I got to chat with her a bit. She if fabulous and so down to earth. Just loved her. Here I am attempting to do a little sewing...making a fabric flower:
I also met Tena Sprenger. She was a guest designer for the Bakery last Sept. and it was so nice to connect with her instead of just emailing back and forth! lol I also got a pic with Donna but it did not turn out too good. Needs some editing...I look REALLY tired! lol
Okay. That's it for now. I came home early to try and get some rest. To all the ladies at the event, I will post soon about the class kits and it was SO nice to meet all of you. You rock! I will be back tomorrow with more. Thanks for stopping by!

Coming up for air

I am surronded by a sea of pink boxes and class kits. I have been working non stop on the Inspired Event and that is why I have been MIA. I will be a much better blogger when this event is over. I promise. For now, I will leave you with something I created a few months ago. I call it a "reminder binder" and it holds all my cards that I create. Each mini file folder has a month on the front where I list all important dates. It really helps me remember to send out my cards! Here are some pics: Okay, back to work. I will definitely post before I leave on Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
