ATC Fun...

The Hero Arts Challenge this week is to create an ATC card (Artist Trading Card). I have never created one and thought it might be fun to play around with. So here is my first ATC using lots of Hero Arts goodies...To create my ATC card....

I used the back of some old KI Memories frost paper to get a frosty white cardstock and then heat embossed an HA snowflake stamp with white embossing powder. I added a HA pearl to the center to make them pop. I colored the snow girl with markers and added lots of bling with a glitter pen...sorry, it's hard to see in the photo. I also added some pink chalk to her cheeks to give her the look of being out in the cold. I recently saw one of Jennifer's winter cards where she layered vellum to create a snow scene and thought I would try it here and I like the result! I created a pocket too with the vellum by stitching around the edges. To finish it off I found some silver, mirror like confetti and stamped the sentiment, "be merrry" on it with Staz On ink and attached it with a pearl straight pin.

Overall, I had fun with it. I think I was just trying to keep my fingers busy so I wouldn't order one of these......The Fuji Instax Mini. I really want one! Sigh. Maybe soon.

Okay, off to bed. Got a bit of a tummy ache. Be back soon...

Scrappin' with the girls...

I met up with some of my friends yesterday to scrapbook. Thought I'd show you a couple of things I worked on.

This is a layout I made about my dad's 60th surprise birthday party that we threw him back in June. We had Alex's band play including a cover of one of his favorite Willie Nelson songs. My brother put on a super funny video with pictures and we had a Richard's Hall of Fame with childhood memorabilla. It was so much fun!

The journaling reads, "Celebrating 60 years...Dad's 60th surprise birthday party." I had MANY, MANY pictures from his party and I didn't want to do multiple pages so I created mini prints and was able to fit 24 photos on the page! :) Also made a card.....
Love how bright it is. Hard to see in the picture but I heat embossed the Hero Arts Background image with clear embossing powder and used a paper flower inside a metal frame charm. I'll be back soon with my other projects. Still putting finishing touches on them....

She-Devil...

Hi friends. Just wanted to jump on and share a video from THIS post. It is of Alex's band (Winter Rising) playing at his high school before the football game. Their new song (that they wrote themselves) is called She-Devil...one of my favorite songs from their set list. Check it out HERE. (FYI-Alex is on the drums) Leave a comment and tell me what you think. Alex would love it! :)

And since I can't go without sharing something creative...here is a little goodie for my sister and brother-in-law. Today is their anniversary...16 years. So I used a template by Jennifer to create a holder for some cookies I baked...

ETA: An instructional video by Jennifer to create these bags can be found HERE.

That's all I got for now. Thanks for coming by! Have a great weekend!

Dream Team...

Time to announce another Scrapbook Bakery Dream Team member....
Wendy Sue Anderson
I was giddy when Wendy accepted my invitation to join the team. Wendy's work inspires me along with many others. She is super sweet and extremely talented. Here she is to tell you more about herself...

"Hi there! My Name is Wendy Sue and I am so excited to be joining Heather and her fun team here at the Bakery! J I live in a beautiful mountain valley in Utah with my incredible husband, Brad, and our four beautiful children – Meagan, Josh, Seth, and Zach. I have been paper-crafting since I was a little girl and I’ve always kept a scrapbook…well, my mom kept mine until I was in high school, then I started my own. I have been fortunate to work with some of my very favorite manufacturers over the years, and I am so grateful for each and every opportunity I’ve been given. I’ve had several projects published in various magazines, including Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Trends, and Cards. I am passionate about journaling and recording my thoughts and feelings as well as the “who, what, when, and where.” This hobby has definitely helped me focus on the most important aspects of my life – namely family – and I’ll forever be grateful for the lessons I’ve learned, people I’ve met, and wonderful opportunities that have come my way in the last several years. "

Can't wait to work with you Wendy!

Off to relax. Be back soon....

NEW ETSY SHOP OPEN...

Hi friends! Worked long and hard and finally have an etsy shop opened! I posted several card sets that you may have seen here before. You can browse my store HERE. I called it a little of this and a little of that shop. I've already had someone ask about the Jeepgirl1994 on my profile. Yes, I have a 94' Jeep Wrangler that Ted and I use for fun, date nights! I've had it since I was 16 and LOVE it! So that is where that came from. :)

Thanks for stopping by. Be back soon....

More Cards for Kate...

Been busy creating more Cards for Kate and her family. I love the idea of an interactive card like these...I heat embossed with clear powder the word enjoy on the front of some library pockets that hold a pack of crayons...The inside reveals different images for each child in the family to color. Here is an example of one of the inside of the cards:I also made a bunch of joke cards that will hopefully make the kids giggle :) ......
Whew! I know, long post! lol Did you have a favorite joke from the bunch?

Okay, off to go make dinner...grilled chicken and baked potatoes. Yum! Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Night...

Just got home from watching Alex's band play. I mentioned here awhile ago that he scored the gig at his high school to play before the big football game. Thought I'd share a few pics because I am so happy for them.... Alex on drums...Zac on lead vocals...Eric on lead guitar...Chris on bass guitar...I had to beg Alex for one quick pic before we left for the night. I was good and only took one. I didn't want to embarrass him too much since there was a group of girls waiting to talk to the band. :)
The boys said they needed their energy before the gig so I made them a plate of brownies (like I do before every practice at our house) and this is what the plate looked like after 2 minutes (lol) ...I'll be back soon hopefully with a video from today and some creative shares from my scrappin' trip with the girls tomorrow afternoon. Have a great weekend!

Sending Warm Fuzzies...

I just love that Hero Arts stamp sentiment so I decided to use that on a few cards for CARDS FOR KATE . However, Blogger is not letting me load the pictures of them here for some reason so here are the links to the pics... HERE, HERE, and HERE.

In other news, I am so excited for the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance tonight! One of my guilty pleasures. :)

Off to get some more work done. Be back soon.....

(Feels really wierd (and naked) to post without a picture. lol)

Rasberry Suite Color Challenge #16

Took some time today to play with these colors for Dawn's challenge...Instead of a card, I made a layout that I've been wanting to scrap for awhile but never was inspired until I saw these colors. Alex's friend Eric has a farm and he spent a lot of time over there this summer bailing hay and getting a taste for the farm life. Eric's mom was sweet enough to snap some pics for me and these colors seemed perfect. (Lovin' my new Quickutz embossing dots folder. Yum.)

Be back soon...

Scrapbook Bakery Dream Team...

Hello friends. Just wanted to hop on to tell you about Scrapbook Bakery's new DREAM TEAM. I have taken a hiatus from the kits of the month just because my family life has been super busy and I've been brainstorming ways to do things differently....to be unique. So we will be debuting our new kits in November and I put together a dream team of a few ladies that you will be seeing their work a lot of over at the Bakery.

When I was making a list of a selected few to work with, Laura Vegas came to mind very quickly. Not only is she super friendly and encouraging, but her work is AMAZING. There has never been a "Vegas" layout or project. (that's what I call them. lol) that I haven't fell in love with. So we are very happy to introduce Laura Vegas to our DREAM TEAM. Here's Laura to tell you a little about herself.....

"Hey everyone! My name is Laura Vegas. I live in sunny California with my husband of 10 years, Joe. And we have 2 gorgeous girls, Alyssa (13 years old) and Sarah (10 years old). I work full-time in my home as a Daycare Provider. I have been scrapping for almost 14 years now, and in the past 3 years I have also been really focusing on improving my photography skills. My work has been published in various magazines and idea books such as PaperKuts, Creating Keepsakes, PaperCrafts, Scrapbooks Etc, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, and Cards. I was chosen to be a part of the 2006 PaperKuts Power Team, have been on the Lil Davis Design Team, and am currently a member of the Making Memories Design Team and Jillibean Soup Design Team."

Look for Laura's work with our kits starting in November. Thanks Laura for lending your talent to Scrapbook Bakery. We are honored and excited.

Cows, Apples, and Cupcakes...Oh My!

Yep. That was the theme for my nephew's 2nd birthday party...Cows and Apples. My sister had his party at a local farm and it was so much fun. I was in charge of the cupcakes. I made these toppers for them..... I cut out cardstock with a circle punch, stamped the cute apple and cow images, and then used adhesive to sandwich the toothpick in between two circles. Here is a pic of a few finished...
and the final result...
I think they turned out cute for my first time making many, many cupcakes. And I just can't end the post without a few pics of the birthday boy himself...

This next one is my favorite. They had all kinds of animals painted with holes where their heads would be. Great photo oppotunity! J.T. knew just what to do......How stinkin' cute! I think I am going to blow that one up for my sister. :)

Hope you have a great weekend. Be back soon....
