Happy Monday

Hello! Well, It's not even 9:30 a.m. yet and I have already got a lot done on my to-do list. Yeah! I am known to be a procrastinator but I am doing better. lol You have to be on top of things when you own a business. So, I put up the Bakery's October Kit a few days early. This month's kit is designed for October 4th, National Card Making Day! This kit includes 25 cards and I could not think of a better person to design with this month's kit than Jana Millen.

I met Jana through Jennifer when we all went on a get-away weekend to Cornerstone last year. She was super sweet and I just loved her cards! Take a look at her fantastic creations....

You can also use the kit for scrapbooking too, of course!
Here are some detailed shots of the Sentiments Kit....

Aren't those Butterfly Pearl Buttons fun?

That is it for now. Have a great Monday! Be back soon with lots to share and a giveaway! :)

Impulsive

I have mentioned here before that my step-son has a band, Impulsive. You can check out their myspace page and listen to the instumentals of their music HERE. I wanted to do a layout with the band photo I took. Here it is....I took this on the back porch for a quick pic and had to get one of my three dogs sitting out there keeping me company. This is my sweet dog Casey....
Just a dose of cuteness for your weekend. Thanks for stopping by. Off to create and hang out with friends....

A Gift for Betty

Hi everyone. Hope your weekend is going swell. I did some creating today but when I got home I made a quick gift for my next door neighbor, Betty. She is the sweetest lady. I wanted to create something nice for her as a thank you and I remembered her saying that she was writing down the memories of her life for her children because she is older and wanted them to have a keepsake when she was gone. So, I decided to decorate a 6x8 book that has LOTS of white pages inside just waiting for her to write down her stories.
I started with this....
added some strips of Scenic Route paper....
leaving a space for a "memories" definition sticker....
and that wire at the top was just begging for some ribbon to complete it!....

It was a very easy project to do...only took me about ten minutes and I smile when I think it will be filled with memories that might not have been shared otherwise. It was a reminder that scrapbooking comes in very different forms, sometimes without pictures, but it is the memories that are so very important.

Okay, gotta go pick up Alex from Homecoming. Here is a pic of him and his date (Ashley) from earlier tonight.....

Aren't they cute? :)

Be back soon with some more creative stuff! Thanks for stopping by!

Let there be light....

The power is back on! YEAH! The lights turned on yesterday and I could not be happier! So here is the story of the storm....

It was a typical Sunday afternoon. I was checking email, Ted was watching Nascar, and Alex was strumming his guitar. I decided to go get a glass of water and looked out the back window to see all of our three dogs on the back porch HIDING under our chairs out there while things were flying by them. When I went to see what was going on and to let the pups inside, the wind almost knocked me over and the storm door almost came off. Ted went to see what was going on out there when the power went off. I could hear Ted calling for me outside and I finally managed to get to where he was, he was showing me a baby squirrel that had been thrown from a tree and he was shaking. He wanted to keep him safe from the winds until the storm was over but I really didn't care about that....I know I am bad lol....I told him to come inside b/c it was getting pretty bad but of course he wouldn't listen. lol When I went inside I was joking with Alex about how much of a nature lover his dad was when I heard a loud thud on the roof.

Alex and I looked out to see my hubby and my neighbor, Eric, looking puzzled. I couldn't see what they were looking at until I went out the front and saw this....

The top of Eric's pine trees broke off and hit our roof, causing a hole. It fell a couple of feet away from where Ted was attempting to rescue the squirrel. I am so glad he was not hurt but I have to say that I would be awful embarrassed to say that my hubby got hurt while attempting a squirrel rescue. lol

Anyway, here are a few more pics....

and one of my sweet step-son always keeping things fun and reminding you to always look on the bright side...
speaking of Alex...I have never met a child that adjusts so well to every situation. He was not bothered by the crisis. He simply just read by candlelight with no complaints. Love him....

So, needless to say that I am so happy for things to get back to normal. Thanks to all of you for the comments and emails of well wishes. They meant so much. Thanks!

I shipped out all of the orders that were placed during this crazy time and I extended the 15% off coupon until Saturday for anyone who hasn't placed an order yet. You can check it out HERE.

I better get busy on catching up on things. Be back soon with some scrapping stuff b/c I will be going out with some friends tomorrow to scrap all day and then Alex has Homecoming tomorrow night. Busy weekend! Be back soon....

No Power....

Yep, if you read Jennifer's blog then you know that the Cincinnati area has no power. I haven't had power at my house since Sunday afternoon when the wind storms began and I really have missed my electricity! Just hopping on at my sister's house to say that I am still alive but with a big hole in my roof from where a tree came down on it. Thankfully, everyone is fine. I'll post pics in my next post. One more thing, if you placed an order at the Bakery, I will get it out as soon as the post office opens up again. :)

Be back soon when things calm down.....

More Mini Cards!

Hi everyone. I hope you had a good weekend. I did and I felt inspired and creative. Maybe it was the twelve hour crop I attended on Saturday because I did many projects this weekend but wanted to share this one today (excuse the bad pic, it was taken at midnight last night)... This is another mini card set. :) Here is a peek of one of the inside greetings....
and why stop there! lol I made a container for them all by recycling a Maya Road embellishment tin.....
I was inspired to make this from last week's challenge at the Hero Arts Blog and specifically for this great card drive:
Please go check out Jennifer's blog to find out more information! I knew that I wanted to make a set of cards for soldiers to send home to their loved ones and with such a heavy situation, I wanted to lighten it up by putting googly eyes on the animals and putting cheery messages on the inside. :)

Okay, I'm off to workout and then create more cards! I will be sharing a lot more this week. Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!

A fun little project....

I had many things on my to-do list today but what did I do? I created a mini-card set just for fun:

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the great anniversary ideas. Keep them coming. The giveaway does not close until next Thursday! Be back soon....

The Ugly Truth...and a giveaway!

This is why I can't blog as much as I want....my studio is STILL in the process of being redone. Here are some pics to prove why it is so hard to be creative right now.....
Scary, huh? :)

However, my mom came over to the rescue (as usual, she is the best) and started painting the ONE wall she could get to....(p.s. she would not be happy with me for posting a pic of her in her painting clothes. hee hee) the wall she is painting is going to be filled with shelves from HERE soon. :) I will keep you updated with the progress.

So, in effort to keep going and organizing there is getting to be a large pile on my table of things that I no longer want. Some of these things are brand new and some things I maybe used a sticker or two from.

If you are interested in receiving this big ole' mystery box, leave a comment to this post and tell me a suggestion for something fun my husband and I can do for our anniversary. It is not till October but this year is my turn to plan and I want to do something fun but we need to keep it low key since our five year anniversary is next year, and I'm sure it will be big. The only thing I got is the restaurant picked out. :)

Okay, off to take Alex to school. Can you believe he is a sophomore AND he has been in school for TWO weeks? Crazy.

Be back soon (hopefully) with a video if I can find a place to tape it! lol Thanks for stopping by!
