Happy Thanksgiving and a Mystery Giveaway!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are headed to my mom's today for turkey day. In spirit of that, I want to do a giveaway. This is a mystery giveaway!

So, to win your mystery prize, just leave a comment to this post answering this question: "What are you thankful for?" I will post a winner on Monday morning.

In other news, I finished reading Twilight and saw the movie with Jennie on Tuesday night. OMG! I am completely smitten with Edward. Not to sound like a sixteen year old but, he is such a cutie! I thought the movie was just as good as the book. I don't know what the critics are talking about with their not so great reviews. Also, I just read that they are already making the second movie. If anyone has not read Twilight, GO read it. You will love it.

Okay, off to eat some turkey. Have a great holiday! Be back Monday with the winner of the mystery giveaway!

Scraps

I decided to do the Hero Arts challenge for this past week which was to use your scraps. I had stamped a few extra of the Thank You image awhile ago so I thought I would use it on a card along with some other scraps. Speaking of scraps, I have all of my colored cardstock scraps sorted by color in a large expandable travel file. I know many of you probably already do this but if you don't, try it! This is a life saver when going to crops and saves so much time searching for the right color...Also, did you see that big U that I used on the card? That was another find while organizing my scrap room. I found SEVERAL packs of partial used letters so I decided to sort them by letter and came up with this system...

Ted bought me these small bins at a local hardware store and I labeled them and I am ready to start sorting by each letter. I think this will be so fun when doing monogram projects or making funky, mixed-up titles on pages.

In other news, I am almost done with the Twilight book. I had to take a break because I misplaced my glasses (I found them today!) and I went shopping with my mom all day (literally all day 9-9!) ....so I am looking forward to finishing it today! I'll let you know what I think when I am done.

Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for stopping by. Be back soon with a giveaway!

I'm a sucker

Yep. I'm totally a sucker. I went out after dinner and bought this:

I just couldn't help it. I tried to fight but too many people said how WONDERFUL it is so I thought, why not! Not to mention that I am going to see the movie on Sunday with Jennie didn't hurt either.

In other total randomness, I have really been suffering bad with my allergies/sinuses. I know, I know, who cares about that! lol But, I found a really great product that I wanted to share with anyone who is having the same troubles....probably many of you aren't because you don't live here in Cincinnati. It is a proven fact it is a horrible place for allergies. Anyway, I went out and bought a neti pot . If you have never heard of it (I hadn't), it's a device to clean out your sinuses and it looks like a cute little teapot. I saw it on Oprah awhile ago and thought it probably wouldn't work but I was suffering so bad that I went out and got one.

I felt so silly putting it up my nose. I made my husband do it first. He laughed and said, "You're testing it on me first to see if it kills me, aren't you?" hee hee. Anyway, it works great. Thought I would pass it on.

Have a great night. Off to read...be back tomorrow with a share.

Paint Resist Card

Hi! Thought I would pop on real quick before my Sunday night television starts. Just wanted to share a card that I made for the Hero Arts technique challenge last week. Not the best pic but it captures the technique well...

To create this card, I stamped the three Christmas trees with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder on a white tag. I then put a small amount of pink, acrylic paint on top and used a papertowel and swiped back and forth till the tag was covered and the tree images appeared. It's a fun technique!

Thanks for stopping by. Be back soon...

Basic Grey 2009 Calendar Kit

Hi! Sorry I did not post yesterday. The day got away from me....
I want to show you a GREAT gift idea for the holidays. It will look like you spent days on this when in fact, it will only take a little over an hour! I just ordered these Basic Grey Calendars for the store and I played with one because I wanted to create one as a Christmas gift for my mom. The page size is 8x8 but Scrapbook Bakery also carries the Heidi Swapp 12x12 calendars and you can find them HERE and HERE.

Here is a pic for the month of May... (This is the "before" pic which means that this is what is already printed on the calendar when you get it out of the box)
Then, after just copying what you see on the COLOR EXAMPLES included with the calendar, it turns out like this...
It includes lots of chipboard (that already has adhesive on the back), stickers, rub-ons and die-cuts which made it so fun and super easy! I also altered mine a bit from the examples. If you do not like the example, it's fine b/c there are PLENTY of products included to make it your own style but I just went for fast and easy. :)

Here are a few more pics..... It even has a place to take notes of special dates and a 2010 calendar. You can find these calendars HERE and I just found out from Basic Grey that this was a promotion item and they will no longer be selling them so you might want to grab one.

Okay, Can you tell I love the calendar? lol Just love to enable with good, smart products!

Be back soon. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Jingle Bell Rock....

One of my favorite Christmas songs and the theme for my Christmas Card this year....
The front of the card...
The inside of the card...Do I have an awesome step-son or what? :) He posed for me with no complaints. Speaking of Alex, (CAUTION: bragging about to occur) he just booked his first paying gig with his band (he is beyond excited and I am pretty sure he believes he is a rock star now...lol) and he just got his report card...ALL A's and one B! He is such a great kid and I am so proud of him. Love you Alex.

Here are a few more pics of my boy, I mean my young man...

So are you making your Christmas Cards this year?

Thanks for stopping by. Be back soon...

Mistletoe Memories Kit

Hi everyone. THANK YOU for leaving such great ideas for blogging. I will be getting to all of your ideas soon but for this week, I wanted to share some holiday ideas....

I wanted to kick it off with the Mistletoe Memories Kit. No, this is not the name of a new kit, it is actually a kit from last December. I was beyond excited when the sweet and super talented Jennifer McGuire designed with this kit that I wanted to share a few of her projects here again since Christmas card making/gift making is upon us. I managed to make up a few extra kits, you can check it out here. Here are some of Jennifer's projects with the kit...

I could drool over her creations all day. What a talent.

I will be back tomorrow to share my Christmas card creation for this year. Have a great Monday!

Color Inspiration

Took a break from work and used Kristina's Color Inspiration this week to create a card. Here are the colors: I loved how bold they are! Here is my card using a Hero Arts owl set that I have been dying to use and some white embossing powder that I had sitting out. I am loving embossing lately....Better get back to work but before I go, I have a favor. Please leave a comment of something you want to see relating to scrapbooking/creating or know about me for my next post. Kinda in a blogging slump and would love ideas from you. Thanks for stopping by!

Gratitude

Hi everyone. Sorry that I didn't get to blog sooner. Got hit with a bad cold and it forced me to go to bed all day yesterday. Luckily, we don't get any trick-or-treaters where we live (we live on a busy street) so I didn't have to worry about missing Halloween too much. Anyway, being sick reminded me that I take my health for granted along with many other things in my life. So, I named this month's kit, "Gratitude" because this time of year, with Thanksgiving around the corner, is always a good time to remember our blessings. You can check out the new kit HERE.

I am also very thankful for the guest designer this month, Vicki Boutin. I just love her stuff and she was so sweet to agree to do this for me. Thanks Vicki! Here are a few of her projects....

Her layout is just amazing and I love how she decorated the memory can. I think I may make one similar to give as a hostess gift for Thanksgiving. :)

Thanks for being so patient. Have a great weekend....
